Earth Emerson History
Earth Emerson was founded in 1996 in response to the lack of recycling on campus.
Since then Earth Emerson has helped get more recycling on campus, promote environmental
awareness, help facilitate clean energy purchases and was partly responsible for Emerson's
first
"green" LEED certified building. (click here to learn more about our green building)
Earth Emerson has grown over the years and so have our contributions to Emerson and the Boston community. To read more
about our achievements over the years click on "EE in the News".
In the past, Earth Emerson has been involved with events like "political bird-dogging" with Envirocitizen, Mass Water Watch Education Week, Eco Convention and other organizations.
We promote recycling on campus, clean the Boston Common on a regular basis, conduct food waste
studies and hold regular veggie food festivals. We also conduct several environmental programs
during Earth Week ever year.
Earth Emerson leaders are members of the President's Sustainability Committee and provide valuable environmental input and student perspective to the committee.
